The Crypt School is a selective Grammar school rated outstanding by OFSTED. The school prides itself on being both friendly and supportive and is committed to all staff and pupils achieving their full potential.

The school is currently going through an exciting transition with the movement from being an all-boys school in Years 7-11 to a fully Co-educational school from years 7-13. The school is also in the process of applying to build a new primary school on site.

These changes will give the chosen candidate the opportunity of being part of setting up a new IT infrastructure within the new school and they will be involved in all aspects of IT from planning right through to deployment, maintenance and support.

Job description

Currently seeking a bright motivated individual for an IT Support Apprentice role within a friendly and dynamic secondary school located in the heart of Gloucester.

The apprentice will report directly to the IT Manager and assist with all aspects of IT provision within the school. The job will involve daily interaction with both staff and pupils in what will be an integral and essential role within the school.

This is a new role within the school and we are looking for an individual who will seize the opportunity to develop and thrive in a busy school environment.

Main Duties

Key Roles:

  • To assist in the maintenance of the School’s ICT systems
  • To assist in the installation of new and existing software across the network
  • To provide technical support for all users – students and staff
  • To assist in the maintenance of the School’s ICT systems
  • To provide support for the School servers and associated processes, including responsibility for administering backups, and ensuring email/website/printing/ remote access operates at all times;
  • To provide first-line support for PCs/laptops and RDS
  • To assist in supporting the Biometric-based systems within the School
  • To assist in maintaining stocks of all computer consumables, reporting shortages to the Senior ICT Technician and/or IT Manager
  • To take a lead in maintaining the School’s small number of iPads

Qualities/ requirements

  • Knowledge of Windows Operating System
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Ability to multi-task
  • High attention to detail and good problem solving skills
  • The ability to develop good rapport with young people and staff
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Willingness to work as part of a team
  • Well organised and good time management skills
  • A "can do" attitude.
  • Show commitment and enthusiasm about starting their IT career


You will be preferably educated to A Level or equivalent

You will preferably have at least 5 GCSE's (C and above) including Maths and English

Working days/hours - Monday – Friday, 8am till 4pm, 1/2 hour lunch break.
