The company recognises the importance of an excellent customer services function in a robust operational framework to further grow and mature the business and ensure efficient, consistent delivery of high quality services to all our clients. To this end, the company is appointing an apprentice for the technical services team. The individual can be based in Cranfield and will periodically visit the teams based at the main UK service desk in London offices.

We aspire to provide the ultimate customer experience and are therefore seeking an enthusiastic and friendly apprentice.

Job Details:

In this job you will be...

  • Responding to Helpdesk requests remotely
  • Taking help desk calls; logging and tracking calls
  • Dealing with hardware and software repairs in a workshop facility
  • Dealing with the installation of hardware and software
  • Carrying out network documentation and reporting
  • Assisting with sourcing spare parts and replacement equipment
  • Assisting Technical team with maintenance tasks and installs

Apprenticeships and Vendor qualifications L3

Advanced Apprenticeship Infrastructure Technician Level 3 (equivalent to A- level educational level), MTA Networking Fundamentals, MTA Mobility and Devices Fundamentals, MTA Cloud Fundamentals, One Microsoft MOC on demanded course

Level 4

  • New skills including:
  • Networking Principles
  • Network Systems and Architecture
  • Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012
  • Technical Security Fundamentals
  • Threats and Vulnerabilities

Apprenticeships and Vendor qualifications L4

Higher Apprenticeships Network Engineer Level 4 (equivalent to first year of degree study), Microsoft Certified Professional – Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012 R2, One Microsoft MOC on demanded course

Programme duration

24 - 28 month Higher IT apprenticeship (with opportunity to step off after 12-15 months if you find that the training/role isn’t for you)

Who should apply...

  • Someone who is well organised and self-motivated
  • Someone who is able to work independently in the field
  • Someone who is reliable, enthusiastic and able to work effectively in a team
  • Someone with excellent attention to detail and accurate record keeping
  • Someone who is comfortable around young people in the Education environment
  • Someone with ideally 5 GCSE Grades (C and above) or equivalent, including Maths and English

Additional information

Mobile role – must be a driver with transport. Company pays all travel expenses in excess of home to work mileage. One day you might be involved in a networking project, the next you could be setting up new systems. You could be upgrading software and running diagnostics to resolve reported issues. When you’re not doing that, you would be based in the company’s office in Cranfield to maintain their website and enhance their online presence. The work is in school premises so the successful candidate will need to pass an enhanced DBS check and appropriate safeguarding training.

What happens when I finish my apprenticeship...

The employer would like the successful candidate to progress to level 4 Higher Apprenticeship on completion of the first year. This role is with a view to permanent employment and progression in the company.
