Job Details:

Responsibilities of the Apprentice – In this role you will:

Perform penetration tests and vulnerability assessments on internal applications and external facing websites

Monitor and document cyber security programs across the enterprise

Perform assessments necessary to ensure the safety of information system assets

Collaborate with other Teams to ensure appropriate security incident management and threat response processes are followed

Research the latest Cyber Security advances and present findings to upper management and business leaders

Review log files, find anomalies, report issues and follow procedures to fix findings

Investigate and provide technical expertise in the deployment of open source security tools

Build and implement security awareness programs

Requirements of the Apprentice

You will ideally have skills in the following areas:

IT orientation - Demonstrable interest in IT, through clubs, hobbies, school activities

Ability to learn - Can use books, web resources, and internal resources to discover technical information required to move assignments forward

Time Keeping - Arrives on time; delivers on time; understands deadlines

Attention to Detail - Focus on small areas of concern; not overlook details; looks deeply into work areas not just at bigger picture

Teamwork - Works well with other people; sees the benefit of being in a team; asks team members for input; assists other team members; interacts socially

Taking Responsibility - Accepts tasks and works through them; asks for more responsibility; offers to take up new tasks; takes a role within a team

Problem Solving - Looks into tasks to determine root causes; is open-minded in response to problems; brings ideas to the fore to help resolve work issues

Career Orientated - Is motivated by the work; discusses and monitors own performance; sets goals and works to achieve them; asks for feedback; asks for new experiences

Also, ideally you will have 2 A Levels or equivalent, or a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship, plus 5 GCSEs at A*-C including Maths & English

Training available for the Apprentice

Starts with an 18-24 month Higher Cyber Security apprenticeship, which consists of training in small groups and work based assessment, with modules that could include: Information assurance, Understanding threats, Enterprise IT architecture, Operating systems and Cryptography.

You will gain Level 4 Diplomas in IT Systems and Principles, and Information Security Competence. This fantastic opportunity can potentially lead to you earning £50k in a Cyber Security role.

Working days/hours – Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm

25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

5% employer pension contribution

You will start off earning £15,000 per annum, with review every 6 months
