What is project management?
Project management is a way of managing change. Everything from the Olympics to organising a wedding can be considered a project - it's about getting things done. Nearly every organisation in the world uses project management skills and techniques to deliver projects. As a project manager you could be involved in or leading projects such as constructing iconic buildings, developing nuclear submarines and even space exploration!

Project manager - companies of all sizes want people with project management skills to handle and deliver big changes and important targets. Your apprenticeship will give you the knowledge and experience to plan, execute and analyse the success of these projects.
Qualifications you will study
- EAL Level 4 Diploma in Project Management
The Association for Project Management (APM) qualification will give you a solid grounding in the principles of project management, business case and project scope, planning and analysis, stakeholder relationships, communications and leadership, finance and risk management, and quality.
Entry requirements
You must:
- Have 2 A Levels A - E or equivalent, plus 5 GCSEs at A* - C including Maths and English
- Be aged 18 or over

- Interested in business
- Motivated and driven
- Confident and happy working in teams
How the programme works
- Duration: 18 - 24 months
- Salary: Competitive (varies by location)
Mixing training and a real job
Over 18 - 24 months you will receive six weeks of QA training designed to teach you the fundamental skills behind project management. The rest of the time, you'll be at work with a real employer, applying your training in the workplace straight away. Your qualifications will help you do the job your employer expects from you, and we'll be there to support you all the way.
Continual assessment and examinations
You'll be assessed throughout the programme, often on a one-to-one basis with your apprenticeship course leader. You gain 'credits' towards your final qualification as you progress. You'll also take examinations that lead to industry-recognised qualifications. These are 'stand-alone' achievements that will boost your CV - and they also contribute to the credits required for your apprenticeship.
What happens after my apprenticeship?
As with any job, employers want to keep staff that they've invested in and who perform well. Most QA Apprentices move straight into a permanent job, and can progress further with QA professional development courses. Whatever happens, you'll have that all important real world experience that every employer looks for, plus the right qualifications.
