UCAS applications down 10% due to increased fees
UCAS applications have dropped almost 10% since the rise in university fees, meaning thousands of high quality candidates looking for other opportunities.
As UK students ready themselves for the first year of university tuition fees increasing to up to £9,000 per year, UCAS applications across the UK are down 8.7%. The biggest impact has been in England where applications have dropped by 9.9%.
With 8,480 fewer 18 year olds in England applying to university, and 6,369 fewer people overall applying for computer science, there are thousands of high-calibre young people not going to university due to the costs.
